Many reading schemes use coloured book bands to indicate the level of their books. Using book bands helps children, parents and teachers know which books are suitable to read at each stage of the child's reading journey

Learners start to apply their early word reading skills to read simple sentences. There is a single sentence on every left-hand page. Content at these early levels is very much based around familiar experiences.
