Classic, yet somehow edgy, red and white is arguably the most iconic colour combination in quilting and every project in this book promises to give your quilting repertoire some high-contrast punch. Since the mid-19th century when color-fast red cotton became readily available for patchwork, red and white quilts have been one of, if not the most popular color combinations in quilting, inspiring designers, collectors and more than one major exhibition. This book celebrates that iconic design approach, providing quilters with patterns and instructions for some of the most magnificent red and white quilts in the International Quilt Study Collection. Linda Pumphrey, who worked with the study center on Mountain Mist Historical Quilts is back, this time creating both bed-sized quilts and quilt projects alike--pillows, runners, mini quilts and more--all inspired by these bold, historical yet timeless quilts. The book includes basic quilting and finishing instructions, tips on two-color quilting and working with "Turkey Red" and a CD-Rom of PDF quilt block templates, which includes paper piecing and rotary cutting where applicable.
