So, what is it?
Q: Is it a planner? Is it a catalogue? Is it a magazine? A yearbook? An almanac?
A: Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes & YES. It's the first ever annual REMO Printed Thing!
The Printed Thing will be an ANNUAL and nuggetised celebration of REMO: its product, its passion & its people; a snapshot of our ever-changing website and a documentation of our development over time; even more of a keeper than our catalogues were in the early nineties. Something to cherish and collect.
Although it would function as a weekly planner, it will not necessarily aspire to habitual or on-the-body personal use. It may not make it into everybody's briefcase. We feel that it would more likely find a home in the living rooms, on the bedside tables... or even in the toilets of our readers & CustOMERs, where our 20th Century Catalogues lived happily for many years!
Another core feature of the Printed Thing will be reader participation and interactivity. There will be places throughout the Printed Thing where readers and CustOMERs can personalise their content... and create a lasting record of life in 2008. This is not a diary to discard. This is a souvenir to keep... and collect.
Finally, each Printed Thing will serve to document culture and design, whether that be the work of E.W. Cole from the late 19th Century, or Arthur Stace's homage to Eternity from the 1950s or 60s, or Martin Sharp's work from the 1970s... or the development of the New Yorkistan map image by two clever designers in 2001.
