This is the story of former AFL footballer David Rhys-Jones, one of the AFL's most controversial characters who played between 1980 and 1992.

Rhys's story is one of fights and battles, highs and lows. It is the story of a boy from Oakleigh who dreamt of only one thing - playing football at the highest level. Along the way he was caught up in a club's shift to Sydney, and returned finally to Melbourne to play with one of the league's greatest clubs, Carlton, and make a big contribution to the Blues' 1987 Premiership.

In a controversial career, he appeared at the AFL Tribunal a record twenty-five times as the accused, as well as sixteen as a witness. This is covered in detail in the book, as are several celebrated incidents he was involved in.
