There's been a murder on the Ridge Estate. Ricky's been thrown from the top of a high rise - Stevie's high rise.
What's going on? Stevie doesn't know any more. His mum's back on the bottle. His dad's got a new girlfriend. He loves Tish - he ought to, she's his girlfriend - but then there's Alfia, Carlton's sister, churning him up with those gorgeous brown eyes . . .
And Carlton - they haven't seen much of each other lately. Not since the skinheads in the corridors. The fights in the park. The anonymous leaflets through the letter-boxes, the leaflets with the swastikas . . . and it's so hot . . . sometimes Stevie feels like the whole place is going to explode . . .
A relentless and gritty world which teeters on the brink of chaos, a world which is horrifyingly and controversially real . . .
