Cait and Effie are on holiday in Cornwall with their parents when it happens. In one awful night the girls lose the two most important people in their lives. Shocked, and afraid of being taken into care, the sisters decide to run home to Ireland.
Along the way, the sisters quickly learn to rely on one another and childish games become their shared comfort and strength, as they make new friends, face dangers, share happy moments and discover who to trust and when to be brave.
This is a story that is at once sad, serious, funny, hopeful and exciting - a loving story about how two sisters learn that home is where the heart is.
