The model industrial village of Saltaire is now one of Yorkshire's best known and most visited areas of historical interest, confirmed by its successful bid to become a World Heritage Site. Its makeover in more recent times, as a post-industrial community, is largely due to the entrepreneurial and conservation efforts of the late Jonathan Silver.
