One cold winter night the animals are awakened by a loud "Ho, ho, ho!" A whip cracks and tiny sleigh bells ring through the air. the animals creep drowsily from their dens to see Santa's sleigh racing across the sky. Suddenly, something shiny tumbles through the air. "It looks like a gold coin," declares Raccoon. "Santa must have dropped it," says Rabbit. The animals call after Santa, but he is already too far away to hear them. They argue about who should keep the coin, and finally turn to Owl for advice. With her help, they come up with the perfect solution, one that in true Christmas spirit is filled with surprises and delight for all.
