Sara Dowse

Sara DowseSara Dowse was born in Chicago in 1938. She lived as a child in New York and then Los Angeles. In 1958 she came to Australia, settling first in Sydney, and ten years later moved to Canberra where she still lives.

Sara worked in publishing and as a journalist and in 1974 joined the Prime Minister's department to head its newly created women's affairs section, which under her leadership became the Office of Women's Affairs, now the Office of the Status of Women. She resigned this position to become a full-time writer. Her novels and short stories have appeared in a wide range of publications.
