General Tony Jeapes commanded the first SAS squadron sent to fight in Dhofar, the province from which Communist guerillas threatened to seize control of Oman. The SAS spearheaded the most successful counter-insurgency campaign of recent times, defeating a revolutionary movement at the very time Communist forces were triumphing elsewhere in Africa and Asia.
