Jim Rodger was a superb journalist with a highly successful career that spanned over five decades and was noted among his contemporaries for his ability to dig up exclusive stories, often regarding major transfer deals. He had a long list of high-profile contacts and was not afraid to use them. Jim was by no means a paparazzo but he had a gift for catching people off-guard and thus captured some unforgettable images. This selection of pictures from Jim’s collection explores a golden era in Scottish football – the 1960s. It examines the Scottish international scene, the Old Firm – Rangers and Celtic – and other great sides of the sixties, as well as giving a more personal insight into Jim’s journalistic career and the contacts he made. Through this second volume of photos from the Jim Rodger collection, carefully selected by Tom Purdie, football fans are able to take a peek into the careers of football personalities of a past era and to view past matches between some of Scotland’s great sides from a unique perspective.
