A Sexual Self-Portrait of America
This is a book about sexuality and the role it plays in Americans' lives, particularly the baby-boom generation, which grew up in the atmosphere of sexual freedom. The first section is about people whose initiation into sexuality was probably not much different from that of earlier generations. The second section, "M/F" covers the misunderstandings that exist between men and women. In the section titled, "Freaks Like Us", bizarre and unusual stories are related by people who have failed to integrate their sexuality into their personalities and who, instead, are ruled by their sexuality. Finally, the book's last section addresses some of the social and sexual issues of our time: people who remain single in their thirties and forties, monogamy, adultery and gay sex.
