In August 1973, David McTaggart sailed his tiny boat "Vega" into a French nuclear weapons testing site at Mururoa Atoll and into history. His audacious and gutsy protest at the French government's continued nuclear testing became a global sensation and paved the way to McTaggart founding the world's most powerful environment organisation, Greenpeace International.
