In the world that is of Rob Louis, you will meet characters like Billy the Squid (and his seahorse sidekick Sid). You will be introduced to "Be on Time, Bill" and even take a boat ride through a bowl of vegetable soup. "Pass the carrots, potatoes, and peas, but hold the onions, please." And when Rob is in his poetry and prose phase, you will find him picking his "knows." He knows how to make a "boa constrictor cake," and he knows "never to stand under a blue galoo, for goodness sake!" Some may ask, "Rob, how do you think of such things?" Easy, a little gnome lives in my head. He tells me when it is time for bed. He reminds me to tie my shoes and think goofy things when I am writing too. He tries to catch me when I fall down, and for my birthday, he became a clown. But when my head aches, yes, alas, I put my gnome out on the grass. So if you don't like prose or poem, don't blame me; blame the gnome. He probably wrote them because I wasn't home. So now you know. But why the title of the book Sittin' in My Garden (Waitin' for the Jelly Beans to Grow)? Well, mostly because not only are jelly beans my all-time favorite candy, but they are also a fair and favorable representation of the prose and poems herein. Like the jelly beans, my writings are colorful, varied, and capable of either bringing a sweet and new memory or reminding the reader of an old one. Perhaps something from your childhood or maybe your children's or grandchildren's childhood. That's why these poems and prose were written for the young and not so young. For all ages. And not to worry, there is no mentioned politics, religion, nothing sexual or any curse words, just goofy G-rated fun for all. Enjoy.
