The second book in the Skye Trilogy, following from 'Skye Lakota'.

In the wake of Scotland's dire economic situation, Fletcher MacKinnon announces to his wife Beth and daughter Skye that the family must move to America, New Orleans specifically, where Fletcher hopes to start a horse breeding farm. On the trip to America, Fletcher must leave Beth and Skye to purchase a Barb stallion to start off his farm, but before parting he makes Beth promise that she'll take Skye to his Lakota relatives if there is any problem in New Orleans.

Once in New Orleans, Beth and Skye stay with their Caldwell cousins and meet handsome Sir James Kyler Wyndford. Kyle has started a cattle empire in America but has come to New Orleans in order to seek medical help for his ailing sister-in-law. Kyle is talked into escorting Skye for her New Orleans "debut" and, though neither are too thrilled with the idea, but once they meet it's instant attraction. Until Skye learns of Kyle's aversion that is, and Skye finds herself torn between the man she's come to love and the heritage she can't deny.
