In a world centuries from now, English society lives pretty much in a claustrophobic bubble - a city once known as London - where the citizens' every movement is predestined. Life may be dull and pointless, but it's safe. But for a small section of society, known as the Outsiders, this life is intolerable.
The price they pay is poverty and struggle, but they manage . . . until a deadly virus strikes. Their only hope comes in the form of four privileged teenagers, who have the power to infiltrate the headquarters of the country's governators, but do they have what it takes to set society free?
