American soldiers who participated to the Battle of Normandy have created a surprise with their quick advance inspired by brave and brilliant chiefs. First line troops were supported by a lot of armoured fighting vehicles and were helped by assault aircraft and important logistic means. Except elite troops or specific role troops (as paratroopers, Naval Beach Battalions, Rangers) and more classical weapons, artillery was distinguished by its peculiar efficacy.
