Annabel is a middle class white girl. Esteban is a migrant worker from Columbia. They live in the resort town of Seaview (the setting of many of Kerr's novels). In a small town that thrives on an underclass that is both despised and desperately needed‚ two teenagers fall in love and struggle to forge and perseve a relationship that is opposed by both of their families.
