Following the destruction of the USS "Juno", Captain Jean-Luc Picard's Starfleet career is in question. Starfleet's court-ordered evaluation is ongoing, and while he will be allowed to simply retire, the message is clear: Jean-Luc Picard is now too old and too battered to remain in command of a Federation starship.
To clear Captain Picard's name, acting captain William Riker and the Starship "Enterprise" crew must venture back into an interstellar danger zone in search of a mythical menace that, if it exists, has already destroyed hundreds of fully-armed starships.
