Pike's journey took him to many new and unexplored realms, and none more strange or more perilous than a devastated star system where huge, space-faring lifeforms, the size of whales or larger, wreak havoc on the humanoid inhabitants of the system's various worlds.
The titanic creatures have nearly destroyed an entire civilisation, not to mention the "Enterprise", but can Pike find a way to save the endangered humanoids without violating the Prime Directive - or dooming a unique alien species to extinction?
