On what she thought was a routine flight to the surface of a planet, Captain Kathryn Janeway encounters turbulence and must crash land. The strain of the emergency landing causes the shuttle to explode, leaving the Captain with life-threatening injuries.
Her faithful crew maintain a vigil at her bedside, fearful that they will lose the leader who has been their source of strength on their unusual journey through the Delta Quadrant.
