In the vein of Eloise, Olivia, and Fancy Nancy, Carmen is a little girl who LOVES the spotlight and applause, and only grudgingly shares them with her little brother, Eduardo. But Eduardo idolises his big sister and shows how much he admires her in a way even Carmen can't ignore. At last, Carmen realises that the stage is big enough for two. Carmen is Latina, and speaks a convincing mix of English and Spanish. The Spanish phrases are inspired by the terms of endearment the author's grandfather used when she was a little girl.
