Just one taste...
This is on my top shelf where my favorites go to keep them safe from little fingers. I have most of Marias work up on that top shelf.... and fortunately most are autographed :D . Poison Study first hooked me by its cover. (I have the black cover with fancy swirls on it) and the title of Poison Study. The blurb on the back did not match what I thought something titled POISON study would be.. though after having read this book I can not remember what I thought it should be about... I hesitantly brought it and then leaped in and have been expanding my MVS collection since. I have read each of her books at least twice (most more than twice but the newer ones are lower) and I still never tire of reading them. You literally fall in love with these characters and each book are left wanting more. I loved seeing the journey Yelena and Valek go on throughout the WHOLE set(s) and even after reading the final book I still hope to be surprised with more of their adventures. This is a set I will treasure dearly and can thank for inspiring me to try my hand at writing. And it is all thanks to a pretty cover and an intriguing title. Please give it a try, and then fall in love with Janco, Ari and crew as they just keep getting themselves into trouble... well that's mostly Yelena and the rest seem to follow, but they do their share as well :D

Poison Study
Yet again, this is a book Id been meaning to read for quite a while, and now wish I'd read sooner. I loved the friendship and bonds between the characters, and watching them develop. And I wasn't expecting it, as if heard nothing about it, but I got extremely excited when I realised there's a trans character! A goal of mine is to read more books with trans and non binary characters, characters like me, and this one was written amazingly, with the fact that they're trans being just another thing about them, not a big thing, just something that affected their development. I don't know how much I'll see this character in future books, but I'm glad they're there. And I can't wait to read more about Yelena, Valek, Ari, Janco, and Irys

I loved everything about this book, and series, but nothing made my love it more than the wonderful cast of characters. Flawed, jaded, and forced to bend to world that has been changed by a war she was too young to really remember, Yelena fights to keep her head above water the entire way through this book. Such a satisfying book, you'll be rushing to buy the next one immediately! - Jillian (QBD)

This book overlapped in mystery and then intertwined friendship and politics until it fell together into a finished puzzle that gripped me the whole way through. It is the first young adult fantasy novel I have read that held so much diversity and offered important perspectives for young adults. If you like books with kick-ass, strong female protagonists and beautiful battle scenes, Poison Study has a whole lot of that too! I can't wait to read the rest of this series. - Dana (QBD)

Sentenced to death for murder Yelena is astonished when given the chance to live - the only drawback, she must become the commander's new food taster. Yelena accepts the offer and is introduced to a world full of politics, attempted poisonings, an unexpected love interest and even a little magic. Poison Study is a staple amoung fans of YA fantasy and for a good reason, Synder's writing keeps you on edge throughout the entire book as you slowly piece together Yelena's past and her future. - Grace (QBD)

Poison Study
A gripping story and an un-put-down-able book. I was compelled from page 1. The story is not like any other that I have read [it seems everything is vampires lately]. At the end of the book, I couldn't wait to start Magic Study.
An absolute must-read for bookies who love to lose themselves in harmless escapism for a while!
