To John, Susan, Titty and Roger, simply being allowed to use the boat Swallow to go camping on the island is adventure enough. But the four explorers soon find themselves under fierce attack from the fierce Amazon Pirates, Nancy and Peggy, who claim the island as their own. And so begins a summer of battles and alliances, discovery and exploration, native threats, and desperate deeds done under the cover of darkness.
