This work deals with the symbols of D.M. Thomas's postmodern work, The White Hotel. The content of the work, divided into two main parts, is intended as an analysis of the main symbols and images as well as a deep investigation of the novel from the perspective of the allusions that are interwoven in the narrative text. Consequently, The White Hotel is a novel of secrets and mystery, which has to be read between its lines. The symbols that range from primitive to complex ones, hide behind the individual's struggle with the hidden forces of good and evil that pilots all human beings in the universe. The dreams and the fantasies, the "trap doors" along with "the white hotels" as well as the pornographic style mixed with Sigmund Freud's case historian voice, picture, not only Lisa's destiny but that of all humankind.
