Interviews with residents of Papua New Guinea.
A fascinating, historic radio documentary of Australia's involvement in Papua New Guinea before independence, as heard through the voices of Australians and Papua New Guineans.
It is a quarter of a century since work began on this 24-part radio series 'Taim Belong Masta: Australian Involvement in Papua New Guinea'. This massive undertaking involved the recording of some 350 hours of tape recorded interviews with Australians - and some Papua New Guineans - who had been involved with Australia's colonial administration, which ended with self-government in 1973, and independence in 1975.
Tim Bowden, in association with Dr Hank Nelson, interviewed patrol officers, miners, traders, planters, missionaries and of course the Papua New Guineans, who describe their experiences under Australian rule.
