Dr. Tess Gerritsen (born June 1953) is an American author of science fiction and suspense novels. She studied at Stanford and the University of California, and after graduating worked as a doctor. She was on maternity leave when she started writing fiction, and published her first novel, the romantic thriller Call After Midnight in 1987. Her books have been translated into 37 languages, and more than 20 million copies have been sold around the world.
In 1996 'Harvest' was published. This was her first medical thriller (after 9 romance novels). She has since gained a reputation for writing medically astute thrillers that have been described as polished, scary and brilliant.
Now retired from medicine, she is married with two sons, and lives in Maine, USA.
