Textiles of Southeast Asia remains the definitive work on Southeast Asian Textiles. Traditional textiles are one of the most widely-collected and important categories of Southeast Asian art. Formed from an extensive range of locally produced and imported raw materials and an astonishing variety of techniques; including my different types of appliqu and decorative weaving, ikat and other forms of tie-dyeing, batik and embroidery; Southeast Asian textiles are used to fashion a variety of objects, from items of everyday clothing to sacred and ceremonial costumes, shrouds and wrapping cloths, hangings, banners, and ritual regalia.
