Angoras are believed to be descended from the wild goats of Asia Minor, and they have been raised since biblical times for their marvellous fleece. This fleece, called mohair, has long been coveted for its luxurious softness and lustres.
Angoras were first introduced into Australia in the 1830s, but in the last few years the Australian mohair industry has been lifted to new standards by the phenomenal effects of South African and Texan imports.
