Simon's troubles begin the day his Dad buys the baby blue FJ Holden. The car brings back happy memories for his Dad of misspent youth, but it comes with an added feature: a crazy crow Simon calls the Black Bandit, who appears intent on destroying the vehicle and the lives of everyone associated with it.
As Simon's Dad descends into madness trying to outwit the feathered fiend, Simon decides to track down the car's previous owner and get to the bottom of the Bandit's obsession. But with the owner Stan's mysterious disappearance, Simon finds himself caught in an adventure of stolen cars, missing money and mistaken identity.
Ages: 8-12
Simon is finally able to pin Stan down long enough to find out about the psychotic crow. Armed with the knowledge of why the Bandit has targeted his family, Simon heads for home. But is it too late to help his Dad, or can Simon make him see sense and put the whole unfortunate business behind his family?
