From the author of the best-selling business books, Liar's Poker and Moneyball, comes the inspirational true story of a young man who rises above his own personal tragedy to become a star athlete in America's major football league, the NFL.
Michael Oher, a homeless African American teenager, is taken under the wing of the Touhys, a wealthy white Memphis family. Oher's size and speed on the football field bring him accolades, but learning the game's strategy and making it as a student requires the help of his new family, coaches and tutor.
The Blind Side
As a fan of NFL Football, I found this book to be very interesting. However, the technical analysis of how the left tackle evolved and so on may bore the reader looking for something more like the movie. The movie is a great story, although a touch embellished, the book focuses more on the actual story, Michael's academic struggles, the hard time he had learning the playbook in college, trouble he got into at Ole Miss, but still makes for a very intriguing and heartwarming story.
