In the city of Srinagar, in disputed Kashmir, Faiz paints papier-mâché pencil boxes for wealthy tourists while beautiful, beguiling Roohi prays for the boy of her dreams to take her away. In the evenings Faiz and Roohi meet - without their parents' permission - and talk. But when the occupying Indian troops kill Faiz's godmother, he cannot sit idly by. Leaving Srinagar, Fazi takes up arms and Roohi must learn patience. In this land of violence and distrust is there space for love to blossom?
