How did, Jane Rowe, who was born in England in the mid 50s, raised in a mansion, educated at one of the most exclusive girls schools in Britain, and a survivor of the punk era in London, end up as a single mother of three in Melbourne, with a job in a drug rehab unit? And then go on to found one of the fastest growing children's charities in Australia?
The Mirabel Foundation, like its founder, is vibrant and ever evolving – connected to all the things she's interested in – entertainment, music and comedy – and centred around one of the liveliest areas of Melbourne, St Kilda. That explains how she got so many well-known entertainers to support this cause. But the basis of it all is the children – lonely children, frightened children, abandoned children – all innocent victims of their parents drug addiction. Jane Rowe has put light back into their lives while taking a big chunk out of her own. We'd all like to do something to help, but only the brave few step forward. What motivated Jane Rowe, a woman who's described by her friends as great fun, to be one of them? That's the question at the heart of this story.
