His retelling of the gospel stories to his young son is fresh and told in colourful Australian English.
His version of the story of the Wedding Feast at Cana begins this way: "Those weddings were a big deal - the feast could last for a week! All the relations were invited, and it was a sort of open house for the locals who'd pop in with presents and get stuck into food and grog. A sort of non-stop barbie. Well, after a couple of days had gone by, a very serious event occurred - about the worst that could happen. They were out of grog!"
