"It seemed simple at first folding one lie over the next. She had become expert at feathering over the cracks to ensure her life appeared the same. But inside, it didn't feel fixed."
It happened the day of the Moon Festival. It could have been left behind, they all could have moved on with their lives. But secrets have a habit of rising to the surface, especially in small towns.

Two couples, four ironclad friendships, the perfect coastal holiday town. With salt-stung houses perched like lifeguards overlooking the shore, Lago Point is the scene of postcards, not crime scenes. Wife and mother Abbi, town cop Blake, schoolteacher Hannah and local doctor Will are caught in their own tangled webs of deceit.

When the truth washes in to their beachside community, so do the judgements- victim, or vigilante, who will forgive, who will betray? Not all relationships survive. Nor do all residents.

A great blend of characters and suspense - my new fave author.
I absolutely loved this story - read it in a weekend. The characters were very believable, the setting very Australian, and the twists just kept coming! The first half is more about developing the characters, and the second half really ramps up as the lies are unraveled.I an see how real action buffs might think it is slow but knowing the characters, and all the foreshaddowing just adds to the tension when secrets are revealed later. I dont think the twists would have been as shocking without that groundwork. I love the author's subtle humour and little observations about relationships. The small town setting just added to the sense of claustrophobia. A cautionary tale about keeping things secret that just should never be kept! Some of the themes are rather confronting (but perhaps, we as a society should be talking about these things more) but in the end, it is a hopeful story. And I've just noticed she has two other earlier books, which is great as I didn't want this one to end.
