The time before time, Neolithic Europe. The clans of Neanderthals roam the land, and so do the Others (primitive humans). When a great earthquake collapses the home cave of the Cave Bear clan, they are forced to brave the wilderness in search of a new shelter. The discovery of a child of the Others sows concern among the clan, but to leave her is to leave a child to die.
Jean M. Auel spins a fantastic tale of community and historical culture, as historically accurate as it comes. If you enjoy stories about survival and wild living, this is the book for you! - Daniel (QBD)

A fantastic start to an engrossing saga, 'The Clan of The Cave Bear' introduces us to Ayla, a child who loses her family during the last Ice Age, and is raised by a tribe of neanderthal, having to conform to their way of life. Set against a beautiful prehistoric backdrop, the descriptions of the tools and general way of life of the neathderthal are absolutely fascinating! Truly an epic tale! - Mitchell (QBD)
