When the 'Encyclopedia of AFL Footballers' was first released in 1992, it quickly became the bible of every true football fanatic. And inflicted a fatal blow to every would-be football con-artist. As the Coodabeen Champions put it, no longer was it possible to pull the wool over some impressionable sucker's eyes by claiming to have played a few games for North Melbourne in the late 60's. This third update and thorough revision of that breakthrough publication lend it more authority and colour as well.
The inclusion of 5,000 birth dates, heights and weights for the 10,846 players in the 1998 edition is a remarkable achievement. It offers more detail on the superstars of the past, not to mention the quotes about those players from the newspapers, magazines, players and officials of the day.
