A king wakes up one morning, stretches, and farts — his wife, who was about to remind him to wish the Prime Minister a happy birthday at their meeting that morning, is so annoyed with him that she forgets. This very small and smelly act—much like the butterfly flapping its wings in a forest eventually leading to a hurricane on the other side of the world—sets off a chain of events that build and build into an all-out national crisis.
