Fault in our Stars
The Fault in our Stars is the first of John Green's books to be turned into a film but the book is a must read before you see the movie. The characters are captivating and relatable as they take the reader through a coming-of-age story to remember. It's an easy read and is appropriate for anyone who enjoys a different take on the teenage love story about life rather than death. The Fault In Our Stars follows 16 year old cancer patient Hazel Grace Lancaster throughout her daily life re-runs of Americas Next Top Model, doctors appointments and cancer support group. At first she is reluctant to go, but it turns out for the best when she bumps-literally- into a handsome and charming stranger named Augustus Waters. After getting to know each other like the back of their hands, Augustus and Hazel set about a relationship full of ups and downs. As a cancer perk, the two fly to Amsterdam in search of Peter Van Houten, the author of their favourite book, An Imperial Affliction. Its in Amsterdam that Hazel and Augustus cement their relationship with some swoon worthy moments, but its also where Hazels life falls crashing around her. The Fault in Our Stars
The Fault in Our Stars is an incredibly powerful and thoughtful novel following the conceptual trace of life, loss and the legacy of death. Crafting an eloquent story if not with a touch of poignancy, Green deftly touches on the delicate issue of cancer while still communicating messages of hope, perseverance and life not being about how many breaths you take, but the moments that take your breath away. While the novel often felt pretentious, it is overshadowed by the interesting dynamic of the protagonists pragmatism to the love interests idealism. Swamped with tears and heartbreak, the story never fails to baffle readers with beautiful writing and deep undercurrents of meaning. The emotional intimacy of the novel leaves you questioning everything about life the purpose, the point and the proceeding. Green has yet again stunned the literary community with this tragically reflective story and it is truly a worthy achievement by itself. By Xsarea Power

The Fault In Our Stars
I started this book skeptically because I was very disappointed by Looking for Alaska so my expectations were pretty low. But I LOVED IT. I loved Hazel Grace, she was intelligent and quirky and real. Don't get me wrong, it was super sad and tragic and broke my heart a little bit. But it also made me laugh. This book kept me reading into the night because I couldn't put it down.
