A romantic comedy, with echoes of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night or As You Like It.

Hughie Venables–Smythe is a beautiful, young, out–of–work actor who answers an ad in The Stage to be a professional flirt. He is hired, often by distraught husbands, to flirt with unsuspecting wives who are feeling neglected in their relationship. Hughie proves remarkably talented.

However, he is himself in love with Leticia Vane, a gorgeous, self–invented creature who runs a bespoke lingerie boutique. Leticia declares she doesn't believe in love and that she's decided she'll no longer see him.

Hughie, heartbroken, is distracted by his greatest professional challenge. A series of clues, written on ivory cards, will lead his target, Olivia, all over London on a feast of sensual experiences that awaken her romantic nature. The first one simply reads, "I'm going to seduce you." Hughie begins to use identical clues on Leticia in an attempt to win her back...

The two women find themselves often at the same place at the same time, and when Olivia happens across one of the clues with Leticia, she flees, certain that Leticia has been trying to seduce her. Leticia is forced to confront the fact that she does long for love and for Hughie in particular, while Olivia discovers her true nature is very different from what she imagined...
