Sam asks this question often as he battles to be the sort of person he wants to be. Once, all Sam wanted was to play cricket for Australia, but life has become much more complicated. Now he's fighting for his rights, for his mum, his sister and his future with Lina, the girl who takes his breath away. If that wasn't already enough, after crossing paths with local legend Dono, Sam finds himself in a situation where he has to deal with someone who is brutal, violent and crazy.

Sam needs to grow up; he's seventeen after all. The question is, how can he be a man when there is no one to model himself on?

'The Fourth Test' is an insightful and humorous story about growing and recognising the world for its menace and also for its beauty. It involves a gladiatorial cricket match, a brutal showdown, and a series of recipes including "Spag Bog" to die for. It is about learning to be your own person, standing up for yourself and telling the world that you are who you are and if they don't like it, then it's their problem.
