Reptile expert Dr Cassandra Jane 'CJ' Cameron, along with other VIPs and journalists, is invited by the Chinese government to the unveiling of the brand new Great Zoo of China – a secret project that's been kept under wraps for the last forty years. The Chinese have discovered an impossibility – a species of animal the world previously believed to be a myth – and now they're ready to reveal it to the adoring public. CJ Cameron is shocked by what she discovers there – but the Chinese assure her and the other visitors that everyone is safe and nothing can go wrong... The Great Zoo is Matthew Reilly at his action-packed best. If you've ever read an interview with Reilly, you'll know of his enduring love of Michael Crichton's work – and The Great Zoo is essentially a love-letter to the much-loved classic Jurassic Park. Without giving too much away, the creatures themselves are astounding, have a powerful and deep mythology behind them – and are basically huge and terrifying and eat everyone unfortunate enough to be caught in the open. As with all Matthew Reilly novels, the pace is break-neck and the action non-stop, from the time things kick off to the thrilling, heart-pounding conclusion. Pick it up if you loved Jurassic Park (book or film), or you've loved Reilly's other work – you won't be disappointed! - Sarah (QBD)
