Mrs Grey Kangaroo has four children - Jumper, Bumper, Thumper - and Keith. She's very worried because the day is approaching when all young kangaroos have to be presented to Big Red, the leader of all the kangaroos in Australia, and poor little Keith simply cannot hop. In fact he's quite hopless! What is Big Red going to say?
Although Big Red has never come across a hopless young kangaroo before, he tries many ingenuous ways of getting Keith to hop, but nothing works. The last resort is to send Keith off to the hopspital, where the doctor's suggestion of a very scary remedy does the trick!
