Meditations for the Seriously Ill.
This book is for people who live with chronic illness or suffering. It is a book for people who are familiar with the sometimes unwelcome feelings of darkness and anxiety, of hope and fear, of disappointment and anger.
Each of the twenty-five meditations begins with a scripture passage from Luke. The text is followed by a reflection and an imaginative response from God. The meditation concludes with prayer. The prayer method used in this book is based upon that taught by St Ignatius.
Themes for the meditations range from paralysis, grief and anger to despair, liberation and mystery. What emerges from Michael Hansen's own experience of illness is a powerfully moving book which brings to the surface all the anxieties and unspoken fears experienced by people who suffer deeply.
The book also contains an introduction with suggestions for how to use the text.
