This book was so beautifully written, my heart was breaking for the characters and the life changing decisions they had to make. We always like to think we would do the right thing when someone presents a moral dilemma. But what if it wasn’t a dilemma? What if it was real life, with very real consequences? In the 1920’s, lighthouse keeper Tom lives on remote Janus Island off Australia with his wife Isabel. Tom is struggling with the fact he can’t make Isabel happy anymore. She is miserable after 3 miscarriages and desperately longing for a baby. When a boat washes up on shore containing a man’s body and a baby clinging to life, Will Isabel listen to her heart or her head? - Elisha (QBD)

THE LIGHT BETWEEN OCEANS
Set in Australia in the 1920's, this is a beautifully written novel about right and wrong and all the various shades in between. Tom, a returned soldier seeking a quiet lifestyle, takes up the job as lighthouse keeper on a very remote island. His life alone on the island with his wife Isabel is very simple, until, one day, a small boat washes ashore with a dead man and a crying baby on board. Isabel is desperate for a baby, but she knows she cannot have one herself. Tom is desperate to make Isabel happy. In their desperation, Tom and Isabel make a devastating decision regarding the baby's future. As the story unfolds over many years, Tom is haunted by the devastating and heart breaking consequences of their actions. This is a beautiful written novel, and it had me gripped right up until the end. I was truly heartbroken for all the characters. It will leave you thinking about right and wrong and how far one will go for someone they love. Reviewed by 30CS
