The Remarkable True Story of a British Agent Behind the Lines in Wartime France.
Andre Hue was parachuted into southern Brittany in June 1944. Just twenty years old, he was already expert in guerrilla warfare, thanks to the newly formed Special Operations Executive. The SOE, whose task it was to 'set Europe ablaze' from behind the lines, had spotted the young Welshman, with a French father, some years earlier.
Charged with the task of training and coordinating local Resistance groups, it was to be their job, and Hue's responsibility, over the coming months to tie up German troops and keep them away from the Allied invasion forces in Normandy.
Based on notes that Hue made when he returned to England, 'The Next Moon' offers a uniquely vivid and exciting portrait of SOE and Resistance activity: the night drops, the radio contact with London, the brutality of the occupying regime. But it is the personal stories that shine through.
