The Night Guest
A seriously unsettling thriller about a aging widow, Ruth Field, living is an isolated coastal town, who is haunted by a tiger that creeps through her living room at night. Lonely and anxious, Ruth's mental deterioration makes her increasingly vulnerable as she dwells on her past life in Fiji and a long lost love. A tense and at times uncomfortable novel with surprisingly beautiful moments, it is supremely well written- I held onto it for dear life. This is a outstanding debut for this Australian author, made me feel a lot of feelings, the strongest one being to call my mum. Reviewed by 08sv
