'So, George, um,' Daddy said nervously, 'What happens is, you might start off by, maybe, holding hands, and then -'

'Stop,' Mummy said, gripping his arm. 'Where is this going?'

'You said to explain what's happening,' Daddy said.

'Not how it happened,' Mummy said, alarmed. 'For God's sake!'

'Sorry, I thought . . . ' Daddy said.

Mummy rolled her eyes. 'Georgie,' she said, 'Mummy is having a baby. You're going to be a brother.'
