The annual McPherson Lecture Series publication consists of three lectures delivered by a renowned legal expert on related themes within the area of private or commercial law. Dr Bob Austin, a retired NSW Supreme Court Judge, delivered the 2010 lectures, which are hosted each year by the University of Queensland's TC Beirne School of Law.
Dr Austin's lectures focus on the area of Australian company directors. He examines the functions of the corporate board, and the traditional discourse on conflicts of interests and improper use of position and information, good faith and improper purposes, care and diligence, and insolvent trading. The first lecture addresses 'company directors and the fiduciary idea'. The second lecture explores directors' duties in a transactional setting, and the third lecture considers directors' duties in a financial setting.
