It's the summer of AD79 - the year of one of the worst natural disasters of all time. Flavia Gemina, a Roman sea captain's daughter, sails to the Bay of Naples to spend the summer with her uncle who lives near Pompeii. She and three friends are soon absorbed in trying to solve a riddle that may lead to a great treasure. But when Mount Vesuvius erupts, the friends find themselves in terrible danger.
